Our Story

Hers

Kendra grew up in Colorado, and after a wonderful childhood she yearned for the 'big city'. With her parents' encouragement and support she went to college near Chicago, and after graduation she lived on the North Side of the city for four years while continuing her studies in computers and graphics. She was also working temp jobs, salaried jobs and no jobs while experiencing the rise of the Internet, going to Cubs games and street festivals, and growing into adulthood in the Windy City. Knowing that she was not destined to live in Chicago forever, in 2001 she moved to Vancouver, BC to study visual effects and animation. After her training at Vancouver Film School, Kendra prepared herself to 'go west' once again.

In 2002 she had a stopover in Las Vegas while planning a move to Los Angeles. Within a few months, The Venetian Resort offered her a job and she stayed, giving her time to enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer.

After five years at The Venetian, she again needed a change and started her own Design and Creative Studio - Quixotic Creative - named after Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes' quintessential dreamer.

Six months later she met Brian, and six years after that, they are to be married.

"...for hope is always born at the same time as love..."
― Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote

His

Born in the Sierra Sands of Ridgecrest, California, a small desert town in the Indian Wells Valley, Brian was born with a pencil in one hand, ready to draw. His parents John and Doris encouraged this passion and Brian developed knowledge that would later be invaluable to him as a mechanical illustrator. A wide variety of jobs and life experiences helped him to develop some other interesting skills, such as parking rental cars, lawn mower assembly and driving forklifts, dump trucks, front end loaders and tractors, as well as construction techniques like water main and meter assembly.

Brian ended up moving south to the Los Angeles area to attend Pierce College in Woodland Hills, where he earned a degree in Commercial Technical Illustration. He was employed in the aerospace industry, creating tech art of aircraft missile-related nonsense.

The desire to design instead of simply illustrating led Brian to co-found Cricket Graphics, now Cricket Studio, in 1987. After seven years of designing in LA, a seismic disturbance moved this Cricket venture and life to yet another desert climate, Las Vegas, in 1994. Creating designs for even more fun-filled companies and art-related institutions in the Las Vegas Arts District has been an opportunity for Brian to hone his illustration skills and has served as a reintroduction to fine art, a creative outlet that he had not explored in many years.

Through a group of mutual creative friends at a downtown Las Vegas gathering, Brian met Kendra and knew his life may never be the same again. He was immediately drawn in by her sense of humor; when he asked her if she had any kids, she replied, "Not that I know of." They share a love of food, travel, music, television and movies, and each other. The couple agreed to explore a brave new world together after Brian had a time travel experience that left him with a new outlook on life.

  • Important tips
Mammoth is a high altitude town, with elevations of 8,000-10,000 feet. Some people don't notice the difference until they try to run up a flight of stairs, but some people can be very sensitive to the altitude. If you find yourself short of breath, with a headache, or even dry throat, you are likely experiencing the effects of high altitude. To help prevent any effects, drink plenty of water upon your arrival to town, have Advil handy, and use plenty of Chap-stick, lotion, and sunscreen. Remember, Mammoth is 8,000 feet closer to the sun and the snow reflects the sun.
  • Dress code
Mountain Evening Wear: Upscale evening wear ( a bit more formal and dressy, but not "black tie") that is appropriate for winter mountain temperatures. It will be warm inside but please feel free to arrive in your regular winter jackets and boots, as this is a common occurrence at a ski resort. There will be places to put your boots and jackets at the reception.
